Silk was born in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay Silk is the child of Peter Silk, who is an academic and Anna Silk, a director, actress as well as a producer and playwright. Anna holds some early memories of watching and going to rehearsals for plays. Silk made several commercials while she was still a kid. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Arts from St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas has produced two shows in its beginning: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk was moved to Toronto in order to perform and advance in November, 1999. The following decade, she moved to Los Angeles. Seth Cooperman was her future husband when she was introduced to him in an actor's workshop at Los Angeles. They got married at the civil ceremony on the 10th of December 2009 after they became engaged. The couple reaffirmed their vows April 10, 2011 at Fredericton at the context of a Jewish service after she became a Jew.
